The Sea-Flux Team
We are a proud New Zealand based company helping all maritime businesses to streamline the efficiency of their vessels in their evolving industries. Tai
Founder & CEO
My early life gave me a fascination for the ocean and everything in it. Through my working life, I have experienced multiple maritime positions, but it is the Luxury Yacht industry where I felt most suited. Starting out on the deck of a few Superyachts, I got to use numerous international software systems, to manage all manners of maintenance, documentation, and on-board record keeping. What I found in common was a lack of consistency and most importantly, I needed to have access from anywhere.
Sea-Flux was born, initially as a side project and to assist me with my own compliance workload as a First Officer. From a simple first version that was created on weekends to full Developer mode Version 2, it has taken 4 years to enjoy the simple, user-friendly software that many now enjoy working with. For myself, I get to use Sea-Flux almost daily in my role as rotational Captain and therefore remain vigilant with industry changes and updated regulations.
Phil
Managing Director
Phil has been involved with the Sea-Flux business since late 2020 soon after being introduced to Tai, and the other Directors of the business.
With a 35-year background in IT, Phil has worked for a number of international IT businesses including senior management positions at Telecom (now Spark) and IBM where he was on the NZ leadership team and local executive.
Following his years with IBM Phil joined Systems Advisory Services (SASIT) as CEO, and for the subsequent 15 years grew the business by 500% and took that business into Australia and also into Asia.
Phil now shares his passion for business with a small number of early start-up companies, with Sea-Flux Limited being the star performer.
Vaughan
DIRECTOR
My official Maritime career began as a fishing cadet, as I always loved fishing as a young person. As time passed, I ventured into various positions for numerous companies both in New Zealand and Australia. It was the Aquaculture industry, where I have been part of the rapid expansion, for the previous 25 years.
My position as Operations Manager for numerous companies, has given me experience with Surveyors, Maritime Officers along with the daily maintenance and compliance requirements for all vessels under my management.
I enjoy seeing the next generation of young seafarers emerge with their affinity to the digital era and know that Sea-Flux is their tool for greater safety and compliance in their operation. I look forward with envy of the various career opportunities these young men and women have ahead of them.

I have always loved the sea, from a land point of view. Although I haven’t had an official seafaring career I have worked as cook/deckhand on a prawn boat in the Gulf of Carpentaria and have also been associated with the Aquaculture industry for many years. I have always loved travel and the experiences that brings. Currently working with the team and Sea-Flux, gives me travel, interesting places, interesting people and a great product.

Sofya
Marketing & Creative Assistant
My journey started in Russia, where I spent my formative years immersed in fine art and design. Creativity was always my compass, and when I moved to New Zealand, it naturally evolved into a career in advertising and marketing. I’ve always been fascinated by the way visuals can tell a story, simplify complexity, and stir emotion.
Coming from a place far from the ocean, I was instantly captivated by New Zealand’s coastal beauty. The sea continues to inspire and ground me, reminding me of the importance of connection and care. Joining Sea-Flux allows me to merge that inspiration with my creative skills, contributing to a product that makes a meaningful difference in people’s safety and lives.
Blair
Sales Executive
My career kicked off making waves, literally! Driven by an early passion for surf and fitness, I became both a volunteer and professional surf lifeguard, even competing as a national-level surf athlete. My maritime interests then drew me to the Royal New Zealand Navy, where I served as a Warfare Officer and qualified as a bridge watchkeeper on vessels during deployments both around New Zealand and globally.
When my life’s focus shifted to starting a family, it charted a new career course for me towards entrepreneurship, where I created a successful corporate fitness business. This was then followed by a move to a sales role with a commercial playground company, which was all about bringing fun and fitness to a new generation.
Now, as a proud member of the Sea-Flux crew, I’m thrilled to be back in the maritime world, helping keep people safer at sea.

Charles
UK Representative (CEng MIMarEST)
I have always had a passion for water safety and following a successful period as a Ship Surveyor and Auditor at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, as well as becoming accredited as a Chartered Engineer, I set up my own maritime consultancy, focusing on assisting companies and commercial vessel owners with safety, compliance and understanding risk effectively. I am now lucky enough to travel all over the world advocating for improved safety standards on board a variety of commercial vessels.
I originally came across Sea-Flux by accident, and it quickly became a game changing tool for my clients. Fast forward 2 years, my company now provides the support for Sea-Flux’s UK clients, ensuring that our customers receive the best experience possible.
I love seeing the positive impact and attitude change that Sea-Flux creates on board, taking the stress away during audits and inspections, as well as inspiring a safety culture that benefits everyone who works onboard.
Marielle
UK support
I have always had a deep passion for the sea, despite growing up in Birmingham UK, far from the coast. Regular visits to the seaside sparked my love for the ocean, which, combined with my interest in nature and the environment, led me to pursue a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology at Plymouth University, where I also earned my HSE SCUBA qualification.
After spending five years in London, I refined valuable skills in organisation, administration, and supporting others. However, my long-term goal was always to return to the coast and build a career in the maritime sector.
Since then, I have been working for a maritime consultancy and surveying practice, where I assist with audits, inspections, and surveys of various commercial vessels. Now living by the sea once again, I am fortunate to be in a role that combines my passion for the ocean with my professional expertise.
From the moment I was introduced to Sea-Flux, I immediately recognised its user-friendly and flexible nature. I am excited to be part of the positive impact Sea-Flux is making and am confident it will continue to shape the maritime industry in meaningful ways.

I’ve always had an affinity for water. Growing up in the mountains of Queenstown, I spent my time river guiding, canyoning, windsurfing, and scuba diving. After moving to Auckland, my love for the water continued—now you’ll usually find me in my sea kayak or aboard a Coastguard Rescue Vessel.
I first encountered Sea-Flux as a Coastguard crew member, and was immediately struck by how innovative and revolutionary the platform is. It didn’t take long before I reached out to Tai to share my enthusiasm and express my interest in joining the team. With its exciting growth potential and commitment to safety, I’m stoked to be part of the Sea-Flux journey.
Equal parts geek and adventurer, I’ve built my career working with some of New Zealand’s top tech companies, both big and small. I’m passionate about solving problems, making life easier for others, and developing software that helps keep seafarers safe on the high seas.
